The foundation has begun raising various animals, including goats, chickens, pigs, and cattle, which will provide both milk and meat for local consumption. In addition to livestock, Sikhalo is cultivating a diverse range of crops such as bananas, watermelons, and vegetables. This dual approach aims to promote food security and generates revenue to sustain the organization’s efforts.
Beston Solomon, the farm manager, emphasizes the project's community centric focus. "The communities around the farm will greatly benefit from our initiatives," he explains. As part of the plan, once the pigs have matured, they will be distributed to local families, enabling them to start their own breeding programs and improve their livelihoods.
Through these sustainable projects, Sikhalo Foundation aims to create a ripple effect of positive change in Malawi. By providing resources and support, the organization is committed to uplifting the community and ensuring that those in need receive nutritious food and opportunities for economic growth. The Sikhalo Foodbank Initiative is not just about immediate relief; it’s about building a resilient future for all involved.
